“Jinx” has spent approximately 30 years combing the streets of Chicago, researching gang territories, interviewing and photographing gang members and countless hours conducting research in the Chicago Historical Society and the Harold Washington Library.

His picture collection consists of several thousand elaborate images, (which have been featured in several of the History Channel’s Gangland episodes).

His website Chicagohoodz was established in 1998 with the intention of fostering Chicago street gang awareness. As people became aware of the website it’s popularity blew up, and Jinx began receiving correspondence and feedback from people around the country, as well as overseas- such as youth organizations like YMCA Gang intervention, Chicago Boys and Girls Club, with street gang tactical officers giving credit and accolades on the site. People from all walks of life participated on the guestbook: from gangbangers to professors to Chicago's Finest, the boy's in Blue- and everyone in between.

Chicagohoodz is a photo-documentary about the history of Chicago's modern neighborhood street gangs.

This book will bring you back to a day when the street organizations (then known as "social athletic clubs") of Chicago's youth reflected not only the communities in which they dwelt, but the mindset and morality of the generation itself.

We will focus on the changes throughout the decades, bring forth facts about this history and leave you to come to your own conclusion as to why today's gangs have become what they are. Or did they really change at all?

Thank you for your interest,

The Chicagohoodz team
